Access Policy for time.dennishilberg.com (Stratum 1)

My NTP server (time.dennishilberg.com) is public only for clients accessing it through the NTP Pool Project. The NTP Pool Project is a cluster of NTP servers worldwide (most run by volunteers like myself) provided for public use (details here). My NTP server is dedicated to this purpose.

Direct access to the server is generally not permitted, as I'd rather you use the pool for your NTP needs (details on how to do this are here). However, I have made exceptions in the past.

Clients wishing to access the server directly must submit an access request. Please read the Rules of Engagement before submitting a request. Access requests should be sent to timekeeper at dennishilberg dot com.

Access requests should be considered denied until you receive confirmation otherwise. Please do not access the server until you have submitted an access request and have received a reply confirming authorization.

Be prepared to provide your IP address and any other relevant info I may ask for, such as operating system, platform, synchronization software, etc. This is for statistical purposes and nothing more.

See also the server information page on the NTP support website.

NOTE: this server runs an automated lockout script that will periodically drop requests from clients which exceed an hourly average of one request every 64 seconds.

The server's IP address is subject to change, so be sure to use DNS.
